"The Jesus Centre makes me feel like a human being again."Paul
We offer a personal and non-judgmental approach to all who come. We welcome people from all creeds, nationalities and backgrounds without prejudice. A wide range of activities and services are running. These include services to address practical, social and educational needs, as well as encouraging spiritual life and growth.
Services include a drop-in facility for people in need (The Lounge), with provision for laundry, food, showers, use of a PC and phone; a Skills Suite with IT facilities and courses in a wide variety of subjects, for example: ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), Grow-Cook-Sew, and one-to one time on IT, Numeracy and Literacy . There are also a range of cultural, social and welfare support groups offering something for all people of ages and interests.
Our Community cafe (The Parlour) is becoming a popular meeting place for local residents and workers who want a cup of tea and a chat, or a quiet place to sit and access the internet. Many customers comment on its unique charm and peaceful atmosphere. It is a much loved venue for some of the Centre's regular services - Stitch in Time, Blossom in God (for women), Fuel Stop (for busy men), and also regular monthly events like music and quiz evenings. Staff are always cheerful, the food is fantastic value, and our speciality coffee and delicious cakes are acclaimed !!
Open: Mon, Wed & Fri:10am-2.30pm.
Staff and Volunteers
Our 'core' staff and volunteers are Christians carrying an excitement about our faith, and about the opportunity to demonstrate the love of Jesus in every day acts of compassion. Others join us in our work without personal faith, perhaps from among our visitors, or guided to us by agencies such as Groundworks. There's a place for you in the team!
